| Mission
and Purpose: |
At
Spay Is The Way we are dedicated to raising dollars and
distributing 100% of those funds to finance free spay and
neuter programs of other like-minded organizations to help
end the unnecessary suffering of unwanted cats and dogs. |
|
|
|
Why
Spay & Neuter is Important: |
| |
| It's
Good for Your Pet: |
|

|
Spaying and neutering helps dogs and
cats live longer, healthier lives. |
|

|
Spaying and neutering can eliminate or
reduce the incidence of a number of health problems that
can be very difficult or expensive to treat. |
|

|
Spaying and neutering reduces the risk
of many forms of cancer in companion animals. |
|
| |
| It's
Good for You: |
|

|
Spaying and neutering makes pets
better, more affectionate companions. |
|

|
Neutering cats makes them less likely
to spray and mark territory. |
|

|
Spaying a dog or cat eliminates her
heat cycle. |
|

|
Unsterilized animals often exhibit more
behavior and temperament problems than do those who have
been spayed or neutered. |
|
| |
| It's
Good for Your Community: |
|

|
Communities spend millions of dollars
to control unwanted animals. |
|

|
Animal shelters are overburdened with
unwanted animals that end up being euthanized or
suffering on the streets. |
|
| |
| Reasons
People Do Not Spay or Neuter their Pet: |
| |
|
"I'm
afraid of putting my pet under"
|
| Although
neutering and spaying is a surgical procedure that does
require general anesthesia, the pet feels nothing during the
procedure and the risks are minimal. Certainly the benefits
far outweigh the risks. There is only a slight discomfort
and the pet will usually be back on their feet with normal
activities within 24 to 72 hours. |
| |
|
"I
don't have enough money for this procedure"
|
| You
can't afford not to do it. Most communities have humane
shelters and low-cost spay/neuter clinics that offer
affordable services. Contact your veterinarian, local
shelter, or our Links page to
find the nearest free or low-cost spay & neuter
organization to you. This is where Spay Is The Way
comes into the picture. 100% of the funds we collect
go to help keep such
organizations doing their good work! |
| |
|
"It
would be too cruel to do that to my pet - OR - My pet
will become lazy and overweight"
|
| Your
pet does not have the ability to hold a grudge against you
because you made this decision. If your pet could talk, he
or she would thank you for it! As for weight gain or
laziness - there is no evidence at all that spay/neuter contributes
to either. The best advice is to exercise your pet and
follow recommendations for feeding. |
